Britain's Got Talent finalist shocked by her success

Celebrity impressionist Francine Lewis said this week she was "overjoyed" at winning a coveted place in the final of Britain's Got Talent

“I’m in shock still,” she said, “It is just the most amazing feeling.”

Her impressions of Cheryl Cole and Katie Price earned a standing ovation from the judges on the ITV talent show.

The panel praised her as the “best act of the night”. But Ms Lewis credited her popularity with the viewers who voted her into the final to an article about her in last week’s JC.

“I think that’s why I went through, because of all my Jewish votes!”

She revealed that for Saturday's final: “I’m going to bring in an impression of Janet Street Porter who I absolutely adore.”

Win or lose the final - and the £250,000 prize and the opportunity to perform at the Royal Variety Show that goes with it - Ms Lewis says her ambition is to become a professional impressionist.

“I want to entertain,” she said. “I want to be on funny panel shows.”

Failing to make the final was musical theatre group Chasing the Dream, led by composer Danny Davies. Their performance was described as "terrible" by judge Simon Cowell.

Undeterred, Mr Davies said this week: “We’ve already had some enquiries from theatre producers, which was the whole point.”

Also not making the cut last weekend on BBC show The Voice was "Jewmaican" Moni Tivony, who was not selected for the next round by his mentor will.i.am.
