Two 13-year-old boys have admitted vandalising headstones at a Jewish cemetery.

The boys, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal damage at Manchester and Salford youth court today, with both telling the magistrate: "I did it".

In June dozens of headstones were found smashed at Blackley cemetery in north Manchester.

One of the boys also admitted stealing £350 from a youth care home.

The other boy denied a charge of theft.

He will face trial in September, when both boys will also be sentenced for the cemetery vandalism.
