Bond star blames Jewish food for shock weight gain

The Spectre star has reportedly ballooned since his Jewish wife, Rachel Weisz, introduced him to Harry Morgan’s restaurant in St John’s Wood

A great many viewers watching the EE BAFTA Awards, broadcast from the Royal Albert Hall at the weekend, commented on Bond star Daniel Craig’s unexpectedly zaftig appearance.

The British actor, known the world over for that shot in 2006’s Casino Royale where he emerges from the sun-dappled Atlantic off the Bahamas, wearing a tiny pair of swimming trunks and displaying nary a sliver of body fat, was visibly heavier in the face and body on Sunday .

And now at last we have an explanation. The Daily Mail’s diary writer, Sebastian Shakespeare, confidently avers that Mr Craig’s Jewish wife, Rachel Weisz, introduced him to Harry Morgan’s restaurant in St John’s Wood and, as he is currently between 007 assignments, Mr Craig is fairly gorging himself on salt beef, sauerkraut and latkes.

With another outing for the suave super-spy gearing up, with 127 Hours and Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle reportedly in the frame to take the helm, it’s a safe bet that Harry Morgan will be losing at least one customer to the health food shop around the corner in 2019.
