The Board of Deputies is set to make a large profit from the sale of its central London headquarters, in Bloomsbury for £5.8 million.

The deal will allow for the Board to remain in the grade two-listed building, the childhood home of Benjamin Disraeli, till early next year.

It is expected to relocate to Camden close to other leading communal organisations such as the UJIA.

Board treasurer Judge Laurence Brass said that the sale figure was "believed to be the highest achieved per square foot in the Bloomsbury area. As a result, the finances of the Board are now in a far healthier position than has been the case for a generation."

The Board bought its current HQ in 2001 for a price of nearly £2 million. But the building was costly to maintain and its grade-two listed status made renovation of its interior difficult.
