The British National Party has lost its only county council seat.

BNP candidate Paul Robinson polled only 358 votes in defence of his seat in the Padiham and Burnley West division in Lancashire, trailing last behind winner, Labour's Marcus Johnstone , in this week's local elections.

The BNP still has two borough councillors , one in Charnwood , Leicestershire, and one on Pendle council in Lancashire .
