Arsenal fans filmed singing anti-Semitic chants on London tube ahead of north London derby match

A video has emerged of Arsenal fans singing antisemitic chants on their way to the north London derby with Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

The footage was filmed on a London Underground tube by a passenger who wasn’t travelling with the football fans and shows a group of men and a woman wearing an Arsenal scarf chanting “I've got foreskin f*** the Jews”.

The passenger who filmed the clip, a Spurs supporter, told MailOnline: “I was on my way to the game on Saturday and it was about 11.45am.

“There was a certain group of people who were chanting and shouting.

“I got off at Seven Sisters and spoke to the police about it but they didn't really do anything about it.

“The video I shot isn't the half of it - they were singing about the Holocaust and Auschwitz - I've heard that kind of thing before but it doesn't normally happen with Arsenal.

“I was really offended by it."

Due to the rivalry between the two teams, Arsenal fans are usually escorted into White Hart Lane by the Metropolitan Police to reduce the chance of any incidents.

The Metropolitan Police said: “Two men were arrested in connection with public order offences ahead of the Arsenal/Tottenham Hotspur football match taking place at White Hart Lane today.”

Simon Johnson, chief executive of the JLC and a former director of corporate affairs at the Football Association, said: “This disgraceful example of antisemitic chanting has no place in modern society. As it happened away from the ground, we call on British Transport Police to investigate the allegations and for both clubs to provide full cooperation in identifying the perpetrators. There can be no tolerance of those who resort to racist chants in any circumstances”.

Board of Deputies vice-president Marie van der Zyl said: “This kind of appalling abuse has no place in football or society. The offenders should be identified, punished to the full extent of the law and banned for life from football stadiums so that families can enjoy our national game in safety free from the intimidation and provocation of the haters.”
