Anti-Israeli activists are set to protest outside an Israeli-owned cosmetics store in London this evening.
They will call on passers-by to boycott Sabon UK, which is based in Covent Garden.
But the JC understands that communal groups, which are dedicated to combating the boycott movement, have been asked by the Israeli shop’s owners not to counter-protest at the London Palestine Action demonstration.
The protest is reminiscent of anti-Israel action taken outside the fizzy drinks EcoStream store in Brighton, which was forced to close last year after two years of weekly protests. At one stage, supporters of Sussex Friends of Israel were asked by SodaStream, the parent company, not to counter-protest outside the eco-friendly shop.
The event follows a LPA protest outside the shop last month, which was timed to coincide with Yom Kippur. Around 20 activists entered the store as the Jewish festival began. The shop’s manager said they planned to steal products, before being stopped by police.
