The reported number of Jewish deaths from coronavirus in the UK has climbed to well over 400 after the Board of Deputies changed its system of calculation.
Whereas there were 384 deaths announced by the Board on Monday, the death toll is now put at 440 under the new method.
The figures are based on reports from Jewish burial societies where coronavirus is recorded on death certificates.
Previously, the Board used figures from the four largest Orthodox burial societies in London, Manchester Orthodox socieites and two non-Orthodox national boards.
But now it is including statistics from another London society, the Western Charitable Foundation, as well as from 20 regional communities including Glasgow, Brighton, Leeds, Gateshead, Bournemouth and Liverpool.
