West Bromwich Albion footballer Nicolas Anelka has reiterated his belief that he was not at fault when he made his quenelle gesture during a Premier League match last month.

The player is facing a Football Association charge over the gesture, a form of Nazi salute popularised by the antisemitic French comedian Dieudonne.

Commenting on speculation that he might leave the UK if found guilty, Anelka tweeted: "Thanks to Lazio and all the others clubs who wanted to sign me these last few days.

"See you this summer if I decide to continue, but the question is why should I leave my club and England?
