Spending two weeks shacked up in a shed with four strangers and taking part in endurance tasks may not sound like much fun.
But for Adam Stateman, who did just that as part of Radio Aire’s “Live in a Shed” competition, it was definitely worth it. In fact, the Leeds-based IT professional will now get a £5,000 contribution towards his mortgage after being picked as the competition’s winner.
The five hopefuls were under constant supervision and their progress featured live on 96.3 Radio Aire’s JK and Joel at Breakfast and on the station’s website. Mr Stateman, 33, tells People: “I do martial arts and my wife thought that I would probably be quite good at the tasks so I decided to take part.
“Living with the people wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. We all got on really well.” He says the hardest part was the task on the last day. “We had to fill a barrel of water using a thimble and with our legs tied together.” He adds: “I was very determined. I was in it to win it.” Mr Stateman, who lives in Seacroft, works for a data processing centre in Knaresborough.
