The 2018 Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations are revealed today and, as we have come to expect, there is a generous sprinkling of Jewish talent in the short-list.

James Franco, riding high from his success in The Disaster Artist, is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role.

It’s in the TV category that we see most Jewish interest, however. Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm is nominated for the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series award and David himself gets a nod for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series

Curb’s rival in the Comedy Ensemble stakes is Netflix’s 80-set wrestling comedy Glow, in which Marc Maron and Alison Brie gave memorable performances as jaded B-movie director Sam Sylvia and relentlessly ambitious Ruth "Zoya the Destroya" Wilder respectively. Jackie Tohn, who plays "party girl" Melanie Rosen is also listed.

Netflix’s prison dramedy Orange Is The New Black is also vying for the Comedy Ensemble prize, featuring Yael Stone and Constance Shulman in regular roles.

Anton Lesser is nominated for his part in another Netflix series, The Crown, which is cited for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

Last year’s winner Stranger Things returns to the Ensemble Drama Series category with young performers Noah Schapp and Finn Wolfhard hoping to collect another award for their mothers to kvell over. Finally Julia Louis-Dreyfus who technically isn’t Jewish but has earned honorary status through her long run in Seinfeld, is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for her part in Veep.
