A German wanted for the massacre of 58 Jews during the Holocaust has died without facing trial.
Adolf Storms, who died at age 90, was fourth on the Simon Wiesenthal Center's list of most-wanted Nazi suspects.
In November 2009 he was charged with 58 counts of murder for the killings of Jewish forced laborers in an Austrian forest in 1945.
The victims were allegedly forced to kneel beside a grave before they were shot from behind. Mr Storms escaped capture after the war and worked for decades at a train station.
When questioned he claimed not to remember the incident. But prosecutors said they had a strong case and that they regretted not being able to bring him to justice.
