Haroldeans suffered cup heartache as they crashed out of the Shonn Trophy following a 2-0 defeat by Manchester Maccabi 3rd.

The MJSL league leaders, whose only league defeat of the campaign came against Maccabi earlier in the season, failed to gain revenge after the game was moved to Liverpool.

Red-hot striker Jake Kelly and talented teenager Daniel Rubinstein were both on target as Maccabi grabbed an impressive victory.

In the only other game to survive the weather, Oakhill crushed Sporting JLGB 3-0 at Hough End.

Saul Shapiro opened the scoring for the Lions, meeting Marc Woolfe’s cross to send a header looping high into the ne.

Jack Roache added a second after the break, before Daniel Bomszytk sealed the win with a neat finish.

The result leaves Oakhill eight points adrift of leaders Haroldeans, despite having played a game more.
