A hat-trick from Elyaniv Barda steered Israel to a 7-0 win over Luxembourg in Wednesday night World Cup qualifier in Ramat Gan.

Beaten 1-0 at home by Latvia at the weekend, Dror Kashtan's men led 4-0 at the break, with Genk striker Barda helping himself to a first-half hat-trick.

Barda opened the scoring after nine minutes. Aviram Bruchian doubled the lead six minutes later before Barda made it 3-0 midway through the half.

The striker, who was recently linked with a move to the Premiership, completed his treble two minutes before the break.

Omer Golan made it 5-0 13 minutes into the second half before Espanyol marksman Ben Sahar bagged a brace in the last 27 minutes.

Greece and Switzerland remain favourites to finish in the top two in Group 2. Israel are unlikely to qualify following their 1-0 defeat against Latvia on Saturday.
