AFC Flixton have high hopes of taking to the Accountants League Premier Division like a duck to water, according to joint-manager Tony Rosenberg.
The newly-promoted club were no strangers to toppling teams from the top-tier in cup competitions last season.
Now they have the chance to do that every week ahead of their curtain-raiser against Deloitte.
Rosenberg said: "We never set targets. But if you don’t start the new season believing you can win, then what is the point?
"You should be ambitious and we feel we have a strong side capable of doing well.
"Last season we exceeded our expectations, but some big wins proved we can compete with the leading sides.
"We now have the challenge of doing that every week rather than on a one-off basis.”
AFC Flixton have every right to be in bullish mood. A total of six trophies from their last two seasons suggest Rosenberg and Stuart Delmonte have discovered the winning formula.
Rosenberg added: "The club has been on the up and up but we realise it’s not always going be rosy.
"Everyone, just like in the past, has to work hard and given 100 per cent. You don’t get anywhere without that."
Stephen Peck, who played a key role in their promotion-campaign, has returned for another stint.
Leeds Maccabi pair Adam Gilman and Oshri Amar have also joined along with Adam Stephens.
Rosenberg said: "We are happy with how our pre-season preparations have gone. Two wins is good for our confidence."
