Warren targets gold at U16 futsal in Budapest

Scott Warren is going for gold after being appointed under-16 Futsal Manager for the 2019 European Maccabi Games (EMG) in Budapest, Hungary.
May 14, 2018 12:23Warren, who co-managed the 2017 Maccabiah squad, will take charge at his fourth consecutive Games next summer. He will be assisted by former Team Maccabi GB Futsal gold medallist Jamie Nagioff.
“I can’t wait for all the fun to begin,” said Warren, who has played at two Maccabiah Games and managed at four. He described the experience of representing MGB and British Jewry as “something extremely special.”
He continued: “Winning silver at the 2013 Maccabiah Games was the highlight of my career until we went one better winning gold in Berlin two years later.
“We beat Argentina, the maestros of Futsal, twice and this is something I am extremely proud of. I am excited to be working with Jamie having won gold together in Berlin.”
Nagiiff captained the gold-winning U14 Football team at the 2009 JCC Maccabi Games in San Francisco. He won also three Track and Field medals the following year in Denver. Before making the switch to Futsal, Nagioff played football for Wingate & Finchley and the London Lions first team. His first Futsal experience came playing for Liverpool Futsal Club in National League Northern Division and then for ProFutsal London, whom he captained and earned coaching experience with as part of their academy set-up. He is currently player-coach of MGBSFL side Mill Hill Dons.
Nagioff said: “I’m looking forward to working with Scott and the rest of the futsal team. Fresh off the back of a gold medal at the last EMG, I’m excited to move into management and help build the next futsal generation.
“We are all clear that as well as looking for success in Budapest, we are building a squad for the future.”
Looking ahead to the trials, Warren commented: “We’re going for gold in Hungary and our aim is to select the finest 16 boys in the country.”
