Tamir Cohen made his first start of the season for Bolton in the 2-0 FA Cup victory over Conference side York at the Reebok, less than 48 hours after returning from Israel where he was mourning the death of his father, Avi.
The Israeli midfielder played an hour of the third round tie. He said: "I hadn't trained for two and a half weeks so did well to last an hour."
An emotional Cohen thanked the Reebok crowd for a great reception. He said: "They cheered when my name was read out before the game and they applauded me when I came off. Owen Coyle and the club have been great. They've supported me like family. It makes me feel that I've made the right decision to come back."
Cohen revealed how he was close to tears before kick-off. "It was the saddest match I've ever played, since I began kicking a ball around with my father when I was three. There were tears in my eyes before the game because I knew my father would be so pleased that I was still doing what he always wanted."
Bolton boss Owen Coyle said: "Tamir acquitted himself ever so well and I'm delighted to get him back on the park. It will never take away the pain from losing his father but hopefully the group can help him to focus on his football."
Blackpool have reportedly received enquiries from Championship promotion contenders QPR and Cardiff about the availability of defender Dekel Keinan. He played in Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Southampton.
Hapoel Tel Aviv striker Itay Shechter has issued a come-and-get-me plea to Premier League clubs. He said: "I'm expecting an offer next week. It's the best league in the world."
