David Domb has warned his Hyde Park Rovers stars to expect a tongue-lashing of epic proportions should they fail learn from last season’s disciplinary problems.
The Leeds University side finished third in the MJSL season but saw their challenge falter after suffering from a number of red cards and having the result of a fixture overturned.
But Domb insists he will not tolerate any more nonsense this season and says players must respect the rules if they are to enjoy any success in the year ahead.
“Last year we had a lot of problems off the field and I’m not going to stand for any of that this year,” he said.
“I’ll be quite clear about what I expect and I won’t stand for any nonsense.
“I’m not going to tolerate any bad behaviour and the communication has got to be better too.
“I don’t want the boys going out and getting drunk and I’ll be laying down the law from the very first training session.
“There were a lot of factors last season but we want to do better this year and win something because we really should be challenging.”
Rovers will be hoping to cope with the loss of last year’s MJSL top-scorer Oli Grant and player-manager Phillip Braham who have both moved to Manchester Maccabi 1st.
And Domb is confident his side can challenge with strugglers Crumpsall their first challenge on Sunday.
“Crumpsall have had a poor start but we need to start well,” said Domb.
“We’ve got a few new players coming in and hopefully we’ll show what we can do.”
