Division Four title challengers Brady B will be delighted with their recent piece of business in the closing hours of the January Transfer Window. As the window draws to a close, the club has just confirmed the signing of former Faithfold A starlet Daniel Harrod to a long-term deal.
The move sees Harrod drop down the divisions in order to bolster the Rowley Lane outfit's chances of promotion this season.
With Brady B already having a promising start to the season, the signing shows the team's ambition to push forward and ensure promotion to Division Three next season.
The addition fits well within the Brady's transfer policy of late, with a host of other promising, young talent flocking to ply their trade at Brady B. However, it appeared as though the move may have been in jeopardy due to the player's large wage demands, although JC Sport understands the deal is officially complete.
The Brady faithful will be pleased to know they can now count on his services for at least the next three seasons as he has penned a deal until the end of the 2014/15 season.
Brady B manager Josh Dagul told JC Sport: "I've had my eye on Daniel for a number of months and the opportunity to bring in a player of his calibre to the club was too good an opportunity to miss.
"I’d also like to thank the Brady chairman Josh Black for getting the deal done so quickly. Daniel was the one player I identified that I felt would bring us to another level and I couldn’t be happier that he is now a Brady player."
Chairman and assistant manager Josh Black was similarly delighted, saying: "Although there were a few issues with bonuses, etc, it was a fairly simple deal to complete.
"The fact that somebody like Daniel wants to come to Brady can only be a positive for us."
Harrod goes to Rowley Lane with the reputation of a pass first player. However, Brady fans and management will be looking for him to be amongst the goals in the crucial remaining fixtures in the league.
With the addition of Harrod to an already talented cast, including the likes of James Joseph, Reiss Mogilner, Dan Hildebrand and the experience of Jonathan Meltzer, only a brave man would bet against them being right up there come the end of the season.
We managed to get a quick word with Harrod as he left the training complex earlier today. He kindly stopped to tell us; "I can't wait to put on the famous red shirt soon."
A boyhood Brady fan, Harrod will be keen to impress in the red and black kit.
