Belmont & Edgware will this year be looking to build on a positive 2010. The club saw its membership and the number of matches played rocket last season, and will be hoping for more of the same.
The club’s first team, led by Ashley Connick as and when his studies permit, will once again be competing in the Middlesex Sunday League. Their hopes of promotion will rest on the shoulders of, amongst others, Warren Averbuch and Jonathan Evans, two players in the prime of their careers who performed consistently in 2010, along with reigning 1st XI Player of the Year, Nick Macleod. The return of Jonny Wynbourne will be a great boost for the club in its push for success.
The 2nd XI, captained by the 2010 Clubman of the Year, Ryan Monk, will be playing strong friendlies, following the collapse of the Maccabi League last year. Key players for Monk will include last season's 2nd XI Player of the Year, Johnny Reid, who will be combining his playing duties with his new role on the club’s committee. Both teams will also be competing in the Maccabi National Knockout Cup.
Sponsored by Lawrence Grant Chartered Accountants, The club hopes to once again organise third team matches, in which young talent can be blooded. Last season’s 3rd XI produced some players who will be ones to watch this year, including Oskar Hollinsworth, Ben Tilley and the 2010 Young Player of the Year, Raphael Levin.
