Wendy Cohen was delighted the European Maccabi Games in Berlin was such a huge success for Maccabi Scotland.
An affiliate of Maccabi GB, the 14-athlete delegation brought home a flurry of medals in badminton,
swimming and table tennis.
Head of Delegation Cohen said: "It was a unique experience and Team Scotland was a true inspiration to be part of."
Nathan Simpson, Ben Spilg, Elliot Faber, Zak Taylor, Hayden Selkirk-Fitzpatrick and Nev Cohen claimed five of the six European medals in the badminton singles and doubles tournaments, achieving gold, silver and bronze in the singles and gold and silver in the doubles.
Swimmer Richard Coats secured five medals, while a high quality line-up caught the eye in table tennis, with Jeremy Banks, Mark Georgevic and Brian Wright adding three bronze
medals in the team, singles and doubles events.
Maccabi GB Scotland thoroughly enjoyed their time in Germany. The small squad consisted of seven
junior athletes, six badminton players, a golfer and seven open/masters athletes in swimming, tennis and table tennis.
Marc Taylor managed seventh in the handicap golf tournament after three solid rounds.
Scotland have had a team at the EMG and Maccabiah Games since 1991 as a means of encouraging Scottish youth to engage with international events. They hosted the competition in 1999 and the bond between the two delegations was as strong as ever in Berlin.
Badminton starlet Spilg said: "It was an amazing experience, and a real highlight was playing with the European champion Mark Zwiebler."
