It’s far too early to place Avi Markiewicz in the same bracket as Daryl Phillips, Lee Cash and Pete Sollosi, but the London Rovers hotshot is certainly heading in the right direction following his sensational goal-scoring run. At the moment, everything he’s touching turns to goals.
Playing in Division Three, there will be some who say he needs to test himself at a higher level to be compared to some of the finest marksmen that have graced the MGBSFL over the years.
However, Markiewicz is at an ambitious club, led by a chairman who is hungry for success.With Viv Emanuel has been sidelined with a long-term injury, he’s putting all his efforts and passion into running the team.
Now manager Jeremy Brown, Emanuel and Markiewicz are on a mission to lift London Rovers up the league. They have pooled together an abundance of excellent players , including Dovi Vogel, and the recent acquisition of Aryeh Goldin has added a certain degree of solidity in defence.

Categories include the Senior, Junior and Masters Sportsperson and Team accolades, as well as the Richard Urban Lifetime Achievement Award.

* Daniel Field touched down in South Africa this week ahead of the Blind Cricket World Cup. One of four players from Sussex Sharks, wicketkeeper-batsman Field goes into the competition on the back of another solid campaign.
He hopes to line up in the matches against Pakistan, South Africa, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Australia.
* Israeli handball team Holon HC arrive in England today ahead of their European Challenge Cup third round double-header against Warrington Wolves. Both home (November 29) and away (December 1) legs take place at the Trafford Powerleague Centre.
* Josh Stevens was shepping nachas at his barmitzvah last weekend. Rabbi Lerer of Barnet started his address to guests with the following: “Ladies and gentlemen, do you realise you are in the presence of the Jewish Chronicle Young Player of The Year?” That’s what dreams are made of.
