Two of Israel's judo team experienced disappointment on Day 2 of the Rio Olympics.

Gili Cohen was defeated by Christianne Legentil of Mauritius in the second round.

There had been high hopes on the shoulders of Golan Pollack but he was eliminated by Matthews Punza of Zambia in his opening match of hte under-66kg competition.

Pollack was considered a major contender for a podium finish but the 2015 World Championships bronze medallist surrendered after his opponent pinned the sixth seed to the canvass for 20 seconds.
