There were mixed fortunes for Israel's top players in the opening round of the singles competition at the French Open at Roland Garros.

Shahar Peer, ranked 55, cruised into the second round with a straight sets victory over Stephanie Dubois (97) of Canada.

Dudi Sela tumbled out 6-4, 6-3, 6-1 against seventh seed Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic.
