League chiefs believe their latest meeting with club members will help curb the division’s violent streak.
Tempers have flared throughout the season with three red cards and 27 yellows having been dished out in the opening 36 games.

And following last week’s 20-man brawl in the game between Westdene 2nd and Sporting JLGB, league secretary Paul Rose is hoping the latest talks have helped clear the air.

“It was generally a positive meeting,” said Rose. “I confirmed that the MJSL is a designated FA Respect League so the message was loud and clear to everyone and told them to clean up their act.
“The brawl that took place was between two teams who have won the MJSL Sportsmanship Trophy in the past two years.

“So while out of character for both, the FA would probably come down hard on this unnecessary and inappropriate behaviour which occurred at the end of the match.”

Rose also confirmed that this year’s Feldman Cup final will be played at Oldham’s Boundary Park stadium, while Salford FC will host the finals of the Shonn Trophy and Tony Cohen Memorial.
