MGB Golf, swimming and squash squads announced for European Maccabi Games

Maccabi GB have confirmed the final squads competing at the European Maccabi Games in Budapest.
July 24, 2019 11:23Benjamin Brownson believes Maccabi GB’s Golf squad has the perfect blend of youth and experience ahead of the European Maccabi Games.
Squad chairman Brownson said: “We are thrilled to welcome new players into the squad, and welcome back those with previous experience of International Games. It is a great mix.”
GB will field three players in the Open competition, managed by Daniel Rubin, as well as four in the Masters.
Asked about the aims of the delegation, Rubin said: “Members of both teams have achieved individual and team success at the EMG four years ago in Berlin and we are looking forward to the challenge of maintaining this high standard.”
Masters’ manager Russell Nathan said: “We look forward to learning first-hand about the Budapest community’s history and current state together as a team, which will no doubt strengthen our Jewish identity but also help us bond together as a team.”

Chloe Jacobs and Elisha Kramer are relishing the challenge that lies ahead for the swimming squad.
Jacobs said: “Being a part of MGB is a unique and special experience. Going from swimming in the Primary Schools swimming gala every year, to the JCC Games and the Maccabiah in 2013, we always dreamt about managing our own team to pass on our knowledge, enthusiasm and our love for the sport. We cannot wait to show the squad the unique spirit and energy of an International Maccabi Games.”
Kramer declared: “Our aim is to set new personal bests and, of course, bringing home some medals. However, our main hopes for the squad is for them to enjoy representing their country.”

Former world-ranked squash player Matt Crawcour is targeting gold for the Maccabi GB squash squad in Budapest.
A former Maccabiah gold medallist and seven-time EMG gold winner, Crawcour is part of a four-man team competing in the Open category.
He will be joined by Wayne Davidson who last competed in a Maccabi squash tournament in the 1980s as a junior and is thrilled to be back again. “I am hoping to play well, stay fit and bring home some medals for MGB,” he said.
Steve Ginsberg, who has represented the delegation three times is aiming for a team and individual success at the EMG. Having previously won silver and bronze, Ginsberg hopes to add gold in Hungary to complete the set.
David Rawlings has been playing county squash for a number of years. He said, “Representing MGB is a great honour and it was 50 years this year since my father-in-law represented the squad for football in Israel.”
