The former Manchester United striker's tenure is seen by many as the most successful in the club’s history, as the team re-established itself as one of the top Sunday league sides in the Manchester area, and highlighted by the winning of the County Cup, something that no Maccabi team has ever done before.

McGarvey said: “The last few years have been fantastic, but I have decided it's time for a new voice to be heard in the changing room. The team has achieved so much success in the years I have been involved and without doubt, the highlight was winning the County Cup a couple of years ago.

"The team is in a much better place than it was when I took over, and this decision was one of the most difficult I have made in my football career.”

Tony Gellman, who assisted Scott for three years, said: “This is a sad days for the club. Scott was a tremendous manager who always demanded very high standards from his team. He led us to the County Cup triumph, the Accountants League title, and well as several cup successes in the Cheshire and Manchester League.
