Anthony Gellman hopes his new-look Manchester Maccabi side are finding their feet.

Gellman, who has taken charge of the 1st team, watched David Herman tear Village Manchester apart in their 5-1 win.
Herman bagged a hat-trick before Olly Grant and Sam Vangelder weighed in.

Gellman said: “I’m expecting us to be near the top and challenging. We recruited well. We have a good squad and there’s a battle for places. You can’t expect to hit the ground running straight away so this will help our confidence.

"There is large squad and when everyone is available we have 18-20 players to pick from for the team which is good.

In Division One, Manchester Maccabi 2nd earned a 4-0 win over PriceWaterhouse after deadly doubles from Max Rose and Olly Abrahamson.

Meanwhile, AFC Flixton cruised past Wythenshawe Town 5-0 in the Manchester County FA Cup first round.

Zach Johnson, Yemi Brownson, Callum Sullivan, Ricky Walker (pen) and David Taylor were all on target in the second-half.

Flixton will now meet FC Crown next month and joint-boss Stuart Delmonte said: “It was a professional performance against a physical side. Once we got our noses in front we didn’t look back."
