Six weeks ago they had lost two cups semi-finals and lost 6-2 in the league, which meant that in order to win the league the Lions had to potentially win their last eight games against teams, including two against then first placed Edmonton Eagles Barsulola, two against second placed Harvesters and two against fourth-placed Whetstone Wanderers.
Beating Harvesters made it six wins on the trot and with other results, they could not be caught. They made it seven out of seven consecutive victories on the trot on Sunday with 6-2 win over AC Finchley with another hat-trick from red-hot Sampson, and a goal each for Jason Burns, Joe Bregman and Ben Werter.
Manager Nigel Burns, together with his assistant Joel Philips, and assistant-coach Alex Barnett ,spoke of how proud they are of this special group of boys – "they have become stronger as a unit and developed so much as a team but on Tuesday night these boys became men".
Burns went on to say: "However, none of this would have been possible without the invaluable input of midweek coach Fabio Mazzone and Head coach Tony Gold, who both helped from the sidelines on this amazing run, changing formations and making substitutions."
