London Maccabi Lions showed great resilience to to secure a 6-3 away win in the first qualifying group for to 2009/10 campaign.

The Lions started strongly and some great passing and moving, which was a feature of the whole performance, secured an early goal as Alex Randall picked up the ball in midfield from a Benjy Cowan pass and fired home low and hard into the far corner.

Despite some lovely Lions interpassing, and two scintillating saves from the man of the match, Reuben Rabstein in the Lions goal, the Lions soon found themselves undeservedly 3-1 down after a great low shot was followed by a bullet header, and a goal on the break from a silky Borehamwood outfit.

The Lions did not let their heads drop and to their immense credit they raised their game, and after a great move involving Joseph Bellman and Sam Hamerton, Randall fired home his personal brace, to haul Lions back to within a goal at half time.
