Laws defeated Dov Katz in the final at London Academy in Edgware in a competition that featured more than 50 players from across the country.

The action was fast-paced on a day that saw a number of players who had represented Maccabi GB at the 20th Maccabiah Games in Israel renew rivalries.

Scarlett Anders, Jo Radiven and Dov Katz were among the top performers. Anders, aged 12 and from Whetstone, was in sparkling form in her fourth outing in the competition. She triumphed in the Cadet Singles and Junior Girls Singles – where she beat Maccabiah silver medallist Arianna Di Giammarino - and earned the runners-up place in the Banded Singles, where she was beaten by Jacob Sobel.

Radiven, from Edgware, enjoyed a strong tournament in both singles and doubles. She overcame Anders to win the Women’s Singles, and later added to her tally by teaming up with Michael Gerrard to claim the Mixed Doubles - a title she also won in 2016.
