MAL vice-captain Mark Landau will be looking to rewrite the history books when he takes part in The Lord's Taverners' 'Hit for 60' event on July 17.
Landau, 31, will join the likes of former England captain Mike Gatting, TV presenter Chris Tarrant and representatives of the Surrey County Cricket Club at Wellington College in Berkshire.
The event is an attempt on the British record for the longest continuous cricket match. Starting on July 17 at 8am, the cricketers will play day and night until 8pm on July 19.
With the help of floodlights, the match will run continuously for a full 60 hours. There will be breaks for refreshments, but only in accordance with ECB Test Match rules. The format of the game will be 40 overs on, 40 overs off. Each team will have more than the 11 required to play a full format game. This will enable players to get food and rest when required.
The project aims to raise £25,000 for the Lord's Taverners, whilst providing a fitting celebration of their 60th anniversary.
Landau, who is from Lancashire, said: "It should be a brilliant event and is raising money for a fantastic cause."
