Week 5 of the JC Olim Football League saw only one match being played between FC Jaffa and Brazil. League newcomers Brazil had some pre-season disciplinary issues, however this match was played in a great spirit throughout.

The match got underway under the floodlights with Brazil creating some early chances only to be thwarted by Jaffa keeper Simon Davies on a few occasions.

Jaffa soon got a grip on the game and went in 4-0 up at half time. Scottish trio Daniel and Josh Berkeley and Simon Berkley all getting on the scoresheet as well as Nir Hacohen. Captain Daniel Berkeley ran the length of the pitch to slot his goal in the net, only to injure himself in the process and go off at half time.

The second half continued in the same vein with great solo goals from Tito Elias, Rannie Madmon. Jaffa talisman Josh Berkeley added three more to his tally to return to the top of the goal-scorers chart.

Though Brazil did not put their heads down and they started playing some good football with captain Rudy Glazer pulling the strings. They were rewarded with three well-taken goals to give them confidence going into their next fixture against Ashdod.

As the game neared it’s close, FC Jaffa founder, manager and general inspiration David Bernstein scored his goal from inside the box to celebrate his move from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, finishing off the scoring at 11-3 to Jaffa.

Next week sees more action with much improved Raanana v newly merged Modiin/Bet Shemesh, champions England FC playing point-less Aviv City and a clash between the league newcomers from France and Brazil as Ashdod play Brazil.
