An extra time strike from David Souter saw Redbridge Jewish Care A remain on course for the treble after beating Neasden A in extra time at the Hive.

It finished 1-1 after 90 minutes with Dean Nyman scoring for RJC and Matt Sofier on target for the hosts in a game that saw Darren Yarlett lose for the first time as manager, standing in for Jamie Cole.

Redbridge, who hit the woodwork three times, survived a shaky start to take a 10th minute lead. Nyman cut in from the left and side-footing a brilliant shot from the tightest of angles into the far corner.

Neasden, deploying former Football League player Sam Sloma at the front of a midfield three behind three attackers, deservedly drew level when Sofier, who along with Jonny Ellis was his side’s best player, struck a shot from the edge of the area which left goalkeeper Dan Lee flat-footed.

RJC hit the winner in extra time saw when substitute Darren Bern hit the post and Maccabiah star Souter reacted first to ram home the winner.

Neasden finished with 10 men after Sloma was sent off for foul and abusive language after the referee turned away a penalty claim.

RJC manager Sam McCarthy told JC Sport: “I thought that once we got through the first 20 minutes we created the better chances and should have won it in normal time.

"That’s why with 25 to go I bought on Adam Stolerman, because I believed having the three forwards up there would work for us. And it did, as Adam linked up the play brilliantly and wore them down.”

Neasden joint-manager David Fox told JC Sport: “I thought that the league should have put a stronger referee in for this game. We need better refereeing.

"I thought we had the better chances but we couldn’t quite finish them.”

As predicted, 2009 winners Hendon A kept alive double hopes with a 4-1 win over fourth division Los Blancos in West Hendon.

The Hammers raced into a 3-0 lead inside 10 men before a stunned Los Blancos gave an excellent account of themselves for the remaining 80 minutes.

Hendon's scorers were Greg Corin, Paul Bentley, Josh Bentley and Yishai Last.

Dany Kon grabbed a consolation for Los Blancos.

Joel Minsky, the Los Blancos manager, told JC Sport: "We started nervously and were three down within 10 minutes, with most probably the three softest goals we've conceded all season.

"From there on though, the guys showed superb resolve and the next 80 minutes were very evenly matched.

After great play from Daniel Sher after the half hour, Dany Kon finished well after rounding the goalie, and at that point it was most certainly a case of the next goal being crucial.

But it was not to be as Hendon supersub Yishai Last ended any hopes of a comeback with Hendon's fourth.

Hendon manager David Garbacz told JC Sport: "We got off to a great start on a pitch that made it difficult to play flowing football. They could easily have folded after that but competed really well for the rest of the first half.

"In the second half I thought we re-established our superiority and but for their keeper, who pulled off some great saves, we could have won by a lot more.

"Ultimately though it was all about the win and we are alreally looking forward to the big showpiece in April.

"It is fitting that the two best Jewish football teams in the country will contest this final in what I’m sure will be a cracking match.

"Minsky added: "Unfortunately it didn't go our way, but we've gone home with our heads held high, as we matched one of MSFL's best teams in a scoreline that was ultimately flattering to the opposition. They're a good bunch though and we wish them luck for the final."

A Jonny Haik double set up a quarter-final tie at home to Redbridge A as Faithfold overcame Premier Division rivals Neasden B.

The Superhoops, did it the hard way, coming from behind with man-of-the-match Lorian Madanes putting them on level terms.

Danny Daggers had put Neasden ahead following an excellent counter-attack.

It should have finished 4-1 but David Lederman missed a penalty.

Daryl Phillips, Faithfold's assistant player-manager, told JC Sport: "Faithfold had all the play before Neasden scored against the run of play. After that it was all Faithfold and there was only really one team in it."

Neasden joint-manager Ryan Glynne told JC Sport: "Credit to Faithfold and good luck to them in the next round. Being a goal up, we wanted to put a bit more pressure on them but couldn't manage to do so. We were unlucky not to make it 2-2 but a goalline clearance and a missed opportunity was to blame.

"We then committed everyone up and got caught on the break from our corner

"The boys are a bit down but all gave 100 per cent. We have had to put up with a few injuries this period which is gutting. We will give our all in the remaining fixtures."

As predicted, it finished 2-2 with two goals from Jack Franks earning L'Orange a deserved point.

Faithfold's goals came through Josh Franklin and Matty Kleiman.

Raiders manager Oli Shorts told JC Sport: "I was delighted with our performance today. We gave a team riding high in the division above us a real run for their money and ultimately if anyone deserved to win it would have been us.

"Coming back from one down and again two one down showed our character when on another day the game could have gone beyond us.

"It is a good start to the cup and we have some really important games ahead.

"Jack Franks scored two fantastic goals but the second was a goal of real quality, a Dennis Bergkamp esc curler into the far corner.

"Today's performance is another indication of how far this team have come since the turn of the year."

Faithfold player-manager David Garson told JC Sport: "I thought it was an excellent game and a draw was probably a fair result as for either team to have won it would have been harsh.

"Raiders were certainly one of the better sides we have played this year, and the second goal by Harry Franks was fantastic. I’m a little surprised he is playing in Division 4 as he pretty much stole the show for them, though I thought our second goal from Josh Franklin was pretty special also."

Charlie Bernstein, Paul Franklin, Andy Wisnia and an own goal saw Real Life go top of the group as they won a nine-goal thriller over much-fancied Heath Banta.

Dan Sinai and Oli Joseph were among the scorers for Heath Banta.

Real Life player-manager Jamie Beaumont told JC Sport: "We’ve had that in us all season, we just haven’t believed it or produced it for 90 minutes. It wasn’t JLGB or Zig-zag out there, it was a team [Heath Banta] competing for promotion in our division.

"We’ve now played them twice in quick succession, drawn once (when perhaps we should have won it) and then beaten them. We have to carry that with us now for the rest of the season."

Competition outsiders Temple Fortune B made a flying start as they claimed a famous 4-2 victory over third division Catford at Norsemen FC.


Two apiece from Terry Jeffries and Dean Ingram clinched the points in a game where Fortune's goals came from set-pieces.

Fortune joint-manager Rob Jay said: "It was a good performance today and well deserved victory. Dean Ingram stood out with two goals and two assists.

"We have competed well in the last few weeks and this result was coming. I hope we can use this to push on for the run-in of the season".

Fortune chairman Nigel Kyte added: "It's been a long time coming to report a Second Team cup victory. The only other one was in 1998 so for a Fortune Second Team this is a very notable result.

"The Seconds have had a difficult season where many results have not gone their way – I am hopeful that they can carry this on and make the semi-finals which would be absolutely brilliant."

Cats joint-manager Adam Lewis told JC Sport: "We were a bit off key after so many weeks and they put in a great team performance and really out-muscled us. All credit to them.

"We conceded all four from set pieces which was very disappointing but we know at least what needs to be put right going forward."

RAIDERS TWO GOOD FOR HARMEN
SOUTHGATE HARMEN A 0 NORTH LONDON RAIDERS A 2
Second half strikes from Joe Tankel and Igal Yahya kept alive Raiders’ hopes of finishing third as they overcame Harmen at Ashmole School.

Raiders joint-manager Adam Fegan said: "I am delighted with the result and the performance, particularly from a number of individuals. We have played one game in about six weeks so we were always going to be rusty, and the pitch was challenging. But it was particularly impressive to see how intelligently we played the conditions.

"We have had a great season to date and few would have tipped us to finish in the top four. But we will be looking to finish the season strongly with a cup run and maybe even a top three finish.

Raiders co-manager Danny Caro said: "The players deserve great credit for the way they went about their work - their attitude and their commitment.

"We made hard work of it but remained patient and got there in the end."

The two teams meet again next Sunday, this time in the quarter-finals of the Peter Morrison Trophy, with Raiders the home team.

Fegan added: "We know next week will be a much tougher game - when we play Harmen again - but we are looking forward to it."

With the manager away, Harmen captain Jon Morris stood in as player-manager. He told JC Sport: "With five of our first team players out injured, we were down to the bare bones with regards to our squad. With so many injuries we were restricted to the style of football we could play.

"We focused on putting 10 men behind the ball and defending as a team. We knew with the shooting ability of Ben Graham and Jon Hirshler we could create chances.

"In the first half we looked solid and kept Raiders chances down to the bare minimum. Had it have not been for a superb save from Raiders keeper, who flicked Ben Graham's 25-yard shot onto the crossbar, we would have gone in at half time 1-0 up.

“Second half Raiders put the pressure on us and from a corner, delivered a great cross to the back post for their 6’2 CB Joe Tankel to leap above our defender's to head back across goal and past Ziggy. Our heads dropped slightly after that and we lost our focus.

"Zig pulled off some great saves but the second goal was inevitable ... We pushed our defence on to encourage the midfield to pressurise their defence but were unable to find a goal to spark a comeback."

"On the day it was a fair result but we have gained encouragement for our next meeting and feel Raiders are there for the taking."

DYNAMIC DINKIN BOOSTS RAIDERS' TITLE HOPES
CAMDEN PARK 1 NORTH LONDON RAIDERS B 3
Two more goals from striker David Dinkin helped the Raiders take another big step towards the Division One title as they overcame Camden at the Hive.

Shim Bensoor finished the job for Rob Richman's men who have now sealed 10 straight wins.

Raiders forged ahead just after the quarter of the hour mark. A well flighted cross by Hershman from the right wing was headed home by Dinkin.

Camden fought back well into the game and deservedly pulled themselves level 10 minutes before the break when Ben Harris headed past David Simnock.

In the second half Raiders stepped up the tempo and scored two goals in five minutes to seal the win. First substitute Bensoor was on hand to sweep home after excellent work from Dinkin and Foley-Comer and then Dinkin brilliantly swiveled and beat the Camden keeper at his near post.

Raiders boss Rob Richman told JC Sport: "It was a difficult game played on a very narrow, uneven surface that made playing football a little harder than normal.

"In the second half we stepped up our play and got the ball moving quicker and the pressure finally told when we took the lead.

"We have now won 10 consecutive games in the league which is a great achievement but we are well aware we still have a lot of work to do this season to achieve our main aims."

Camden manager Justin Rockberger said: "Once again we were let down by young kids who can't handle their drink on a Saturday night!

"We just about scrambled 11 together and to be fair they all battled really well. We were level at the break but we struggled a bit in the second half, defeat can be blamed on the ones who didn't get out of bed!"

A 60th minute strike from Paul Stein proved decisive as Harmen claimed an impressive win over second-placed Chigwell at Peter May Sports Centre.

Harmen manager Mark Engel told JC Sport: "I'm delighted with the performance, commitment and the result. It was a well-deserved three points. It could have been a wider margin. We will work on our ruthlessness to ensure it isn't so close next week.

"The boys dedicated the game to Dan Henig, who we wish a speedy recover from his broken leg."

Chigwell player-manager Richard Slater told JC Sport: "It was an embarrassing performance and we got what we deserved.

"This is now turning into a bad season for us."

FC Team's promotion hopes suffered a dent as they were held at home to Montana.

Two goals from Andy Sheena were not enough for Mitch Young's men.

Brothers Gary Cohen and Darren Cohen netted for Montana.

FC Team Mitch Young told JC Sport: "We played very well and were 2-0 up with 15 minutes to go. Somehow Montana got back in the game with a corner and an unbelievable free kick.

"There was no question we were the better side but we must be stronger when we take leads."

Montana's Nick Goodmaker told JC Sport: "We were full value for at least a point yesterday, with a makeshift XI we were unlucky not to win despite being 2-0 down with 15 minutes to go.

"We missed a number of gilt-edged chances and I can’t really think of any saves they forced our keeper into.

"I’m not sure what game Mitch was watching but for me, as I said, the draw was the least we deserved."

Promotion rivals Oakwood and Brady finished all square at Parmiters with recent signing Josh Gordon on target for Brady at Parmiters.

Brady boss Josh Rosenfeld told JC Sport: "We really didn't turn up for the game. Oakwood started the game on top and finished the game on top.

"We found it tought getting in to our rhythm after over four weeks off and it really showed. We were second to every ball and our fitness levels were not up to scratch.

"Oakwood deserved to win the game, but we managed to grind out a superb point. But we need to get back to working hard now and we are still looking good for promotion.

"This season is going to go right down to the wire and there are four or five quality teams in our division. It's exciting times ahead."

MCLEOD HELPS STARS TURN THE CORNER
FAITHFOLD B 0 NORSTAR A 5

Norstar put themselves back into the promotion picture with an emphatic 5-0 victory over mid-table rivals Faithfold B.

Two goals from right-back Anthony Goodmaker and striker Adam Goldsmith were added to with a fifth directly from a Zak McLeod corner as they claimed their first win in four matches.

Norstar manager Phil Peters told JC Sport: "This was an emphatic victory to get our promotion push back on track. Both teams were under-strength but our efforts to get a decent team out paid dividends.

"I was delighted with the quality of the performance, and it was great to see Goldie come out of retirement and pinch a couple of goals. Jonny Kay looked like he'd never been away after over a year on the sidelines and formed a brilliant partnership with Adam Kaldor in the middle of the pitch - one to watch for next season.

"Nick Hudson made his comeback from injury earlier than expected and having Greenie in the side gave us some much needed pace up front to challenge the Faithfold backline - a lesson we'd learnt from the previous game when they beat us at John Lyon.

"To be honest, we should have scored a few more - our finishing was not at its best and we missed far too many one-on-one's. Faithfold's goalkeeper was their standout player but it was clear they were missing the flair and energy that had characterised their performance over us earlier in the season.

"They've got a tough run-in and it looks like four from five will probably go up so hopefully they'll get the players back to secure promotion and hopefully do us a few favours against Temple Fortune and Brixton along the way.

"For us, victory over L'Equipe would guarantee third place and this result, plus the return of captain and vice-captain Jez Elster and Eli Houri will give us a lot of confidence going into that one.

"We need to concentrate on our own performance but Slav will definitely have one eye on the Brixton vs Faithfold and Woodford vs Temple Fortune games happening on the same day.

WANDERERS FRUSTRATED BY L'EQUIPE COMEBACK
L’EQUIPE 2 WOODFORD WANDERERS 2
Woodford's promotion hopes took a jolt as they were held by seventh-placed L'Equipe.

The East Londoners forged ahead when Andrew Lecy converted an Alex Aviram corner. Harrsion Midda doubled the lead after latching on to a cross from Jerome Marks . Woodford went 2-0 up at half time.

L’equipe mounted a spirited comeback. The first goal came through Joey Kolirin who made a huge impact coming off the bench to make it 2-1 with a contender for goal of the season.

Then Jules Bohm scored the equaliser with a header from a free kick as L'Equipe made it four points out of a possible six against the Essex giants.

L'Equipe's Josh Lewis told JC Sport: "It was a brilliant comeback from L’Equipe that was well deserved in a game that we could’ve won."

Woodford player-manager Alex Aviram told JC Sport: "This was a freak game for us. We have never let a lead like that slip before. We have been a side damaged by injury, there is nothing more frustrating.

"I'll also have to mention the state of the pitch. It's a disgrace that teams and refs allow players to play on such a ruined and dangerous pitch. We as a club offer our away teams the best facilties. It's insulting that they don't even have changing rooms to offer. We offered our facilties on Sunday but L'Equipe refused.

"It angers me, how dare they refuse us and offer such a mess of a ground. This is an issue that the MSFL need to address. Teams cannot continue to use such disgraceful facilities. It's almost made me turn to Saturday football as it continues to happen week in week out. It's embarrassing."

Responding to Aviram's comments, Lewis said: "‘Woodford didn’t seem to be too depleted with injuries playing most of their key players including - Mitch Hahn, Jerome Marks (top-scorer), Harrison Midda (captain) and their two first-team centre-backs. We bossed the game in the second half and Woodford couldn’t put away their chances, simple as that.

"Woodford did offer us their pitch but we have paid for our pitch this season and did not feel the need to drive one hour to Woodford when it was our home game. The referee deemed the pitch playable. It's Sunday league football so we’re not always going to have immaculate pitches to play on. I look forward to playing Woodford next season."

L'Equipe club-mate Mark Singer added: "We have some very attractive sponsorship packages available and if Woodford are interested in sponsoring us for next season then we would be delighted to upgrade our pitch facilities.

NORSTAR B 4 ZIG ZAG 1
Two goals from Danny Pollack saw Norstar maintained their hopes of a top three finish with a comfortable win over the Zeds.

Jonathan Kaye and Maurice Franks finished the job.

The Stars got off to a flyer and found themselves 2-0 up after five minutes. They added a further goal before Ashley Ilsen netted a consolation for Zig Zag.

But the home side sealed the points when Danny Pollack added a fourth.

Norstar boss Jonny Bunt told JC Sport: "The game was played in good spirit, but ultimately was as stodgy as the pitch itself. The boys didn't really dominate as they might have second half and Zig Zag out numbered us in midfield, but we were good for the lead and came out in the second half with a composed performance, dominated the game, despite playing uphill, and deserved the result."

But Zig Zag manager DJ Neal Cohen was left fuming at the final whistle. He told JC Sport: ": "I was very upset today about the conduct of Norstar and the ref; our keeper Aden Amsellem was taken out badly by what I thought was an unnecessary challenge. He has sustained an horrific leg injury, but the ref just told us to get on with the game once he was off the pitch. I have seen plenty of games abandoned for the same type of injury, but the ref was not interested in him even though he is a 16-year -old and was in agony.

"As for Norstar, the way they celebrated they third and fourth goals - even though I had a striker in goal - was over the top their keeper dancing around and whooping with delight, not to mention their centre back who insulted me at half time and their sub linesman who took the opportunity to raise the flag for offside every single time we broke through of which the ref blew for every one.

"All in all this is why, quite frankly, I'm seriously considering if its worth continuing when I have to put up with rubbish like this."

Responding to Cohen's comments, Norstar boss Jonny Bunt said: "For the record, Neal was well aware that two of our players needed to leave for a funeral, hence our request for an early kick off. On three separate occasions, Neal did his best to delay the progress of the game and send it off the tracks, as he knew we would be left two players down.

"Most heinous of his crimes, was his attempt to get the game abandoned as his goalkeeper was unfortunately left injured on the ground to the side of the pitch. As substitute Paul Wolfson and I attended to the stricken keeper all he wanted was a DJ to save his life. Instead, Neal skipped around taking 15 minutes to have a player put on a goalkeeper jersey and badgering the referee throughout.

"For Neal to make such bass accusations that we were insensitive to his goalie's injury is particularly out of tune as the injured player was helped off the pitch by two men in orange whilst Neal tried to exploit the situation. He needs to face the music.

"I'm proud to manage a team like Norstar, who I know would never drop to Neal's level. Whilst I'm sure Neal is a pre-eminent disc jockey in his field, he should leave his mixing to the turntables and the football to
Norstar."

A hat-trick from Anthony Mendel helped RJC get their promotion bid back on track as they overpowered JLGB at Fairlop.

Dan Gordon completed the rout on what was a good day for RJC as Essex rivals Glenthorne A slipped up to let them back into the title race ahead of next week's meeting.

Redbridge manager Richard Bronzite told JC Sport: "I'm delighted with the result, not so much with the performance as we did not play that well but the fact that we won the game shows great character in this team.

"We still have 18 points to play for this season. There is still a long way to go and we can only take it one game at a time.

"We now face our hardest game of the season to date, and we need to be ready for it. There is no pressure on us as they must be favourites to win the game and the league. We just need to continue doing what we are doing and only worry about ourselves.

"With (Anthony) Mendel coming in and scoring a hat-trick in his first game for the C team, this has give me food for thought for Sunday’s game. I've no idea what team I will be going with now!"

JLGB manager Rob Silverman told JC Sport: "It was a brave effort today from JLGB. It was a cobatitve game and the scoreline will flatter Redbridge a touch.

"The first half was fairly even, Redbridge were wasteful in front of goal and JLGB could quite get the better of the Redbridge defence. Matt West was making the Redbridge left back look stupid though and although he had the measure of him, a mixture of questionable positioning in the final third from JLGB and not enough bodies getting into the box meant that chances were at a premium. Only a soft goal to Redbridge at the death seperated the teams at half time.

"Redbridge began to push forward more which did actually give JLGB a bit more opportunity on the counter. However, Redbridge scored three in fairly quick succession, in between which Joe Cullum hit the bar, Mike Marks drilled wide and Rob Silverman went close with a shot on the turn.

"It was a positive performance from JLGB, one on which to build as we hope to pick up enough points in our last three games to avoid relegation."

An Assi Avital brace helped UJIA earn one of the results of the day as they inflicted a third league defeat on leaders Glenthorne A in an enthralling contest at the Hive.

Nick Russell, Ben Nassim and Danny Weitzkorn put the icing on the cake.

Glenthorne's goals came through Gary Biller and Paul Miller.

UJIA player-manager Darren Rolfe told JC Sport: "We would have beaten any team today. I was so proud of my lads today 1-11, I want to nominate them all, so I think I will!

"Even though Glenthorne will probably go on and win the league we matched them all over the park. Our midfield really dominated with pace and flare. Danny Weitzkorn was sensational.

"After Glenthorne equalised a minute before half time we felt hard done by. Matt Radstone's half time team-talk ensured we went out with our heads up. That was sure enough and we raced into 4-1 lead.

"Even though they pulled one back we were stilled determined to push on and we got the fifth."

Glenthorne manager Dan Lipman told JC Sport: "The result was disappointing, but now all eyes are on Redbridge next week. I still feel the winner on Sunday will go on to win the league."

Leading scorer Fabio Revieccio led the way again as Glenthorne took another big step towards the title with an emphatic 5-1 win over Bilbaum in Hampstead.

Further strikes from Dan Lassman, 16-year-old wonder kid Josh Wynne and Law completed the rout.

Josh Greibach grabbed a consolation for Bilbaum.

Thornes boss Elliot Coulton told JC Sport: "I'm pleased we got the job done and its three more points on the board towards the title.

"I know we can step it up when necessary as shown in recent games so I'm sure our team will be ready for Blizzard next week which was our worst game this season. That loss hurt us so revenge is the name of the game and we'll be coming out guns blazing ready to reverse the result they gave us."

Bilbaum boss Josh Ejdelbaum told JC Sport: "Considering we were missing about 12 players, and had to scrape to get a squad together, we played very well. It was 0-0 at the break, and Glenthorne were beginning to get frustrated. Had it not been for a slow start to the second half, we might have come away with at least a point."

Four goals from RICHARD FOGELMAN plus a hat-trick from player-manager GABRIEL JOHN saw Jewventus finish in seventh heaven against basement battlers Pinner at Chase Lodge.

But John admitted after the game that his team got out of jail.

John told JC Sport: "Pinner did bosses Les Conway and Vyvian Emmanuel proud Sunday morning, but eventually succumbed to in-form striker Richard Fogelman.

"Trying to prove Jewve gaffer right and get their second win of the campaign, Pinner played Jewventus off the park for 60 minutes, with heart and determination. It wasn’t until Fogelman grabbed his second goal on the hour mark that the game changed."

Fielding only 11 players for the first time all season, Jewve started sloppily and were ahead with their only chance of the first half, when Bobsie Cohen released Fogelman who calmly slotted under the keeper.

The teams went in at half time, Jewventus feeling lucky to be ahead and Pinner with their tails still up. The sloppiness from Jewventus crept into the second half and Pinner drew level. A long throw not dealt with was smashed home by the Pinner striker.

Pinner then went 2-1 up after a mix up at the back, the ball was played across the six-yard box to be tucked home neatly and giving PFC the lead. A lead thoroughly deserved.

Jewve boss John quickly reminded his team it was Sunday and that there was 30 minutes to play and it seemed to do the trick.

They went on to score six, to give a hugely biased and unfair scoreline.

John added: "Team of the week should be all of the PFC side. Amazing spirit and determination, but just not enough experience."

Asher Levin and Yaacov Goldin netted for Pinner.

Neasden exacted revenge on Hendon with Elliot Setyon and an own goal wrapping up three points at Hadley FC.

Louis Taylor, Neasden's player-manager, told JC Sport: "This was a great win for the lads - another clean sheet and I can't remember them even getting a shot away.

"Adam Levene played his first 90 minutes back after injury and was a rock at the back as was his brother-in-law Tony Chadwick.

"The first goal came after a link up between Louis Taylor and Benji Gourgey down the right, with the defender producing a finish that any striker would have been proud of. The team created chance after chance, many of them falling to top-scorer Louis Taylor who simply didn't have his shooting boots on today.

"In the second half we dealt well with some pressure and caught Hendon on the break, a strong run and finish from Setyon who played well all game."
