David Seligman claimed the depth of his squad helped Heaton Park Rovers edge home.

Missing five of their regulars, HPR still managed a stirring comeback after falling behind to Hadley Lewis’ strike.

But newly-formed Maccabi began life with a defeat as Harry Roach struck before Jonathan Franks bagged the winner.

HPR have now won their three opening games and player-manager David Seligman said: "It was a great results given the individuals we had missing.

"It was a real squad effort. We had to call upon every one of our players and they stepped up.

"To turn a losing position to win the game was a great effort as we had to dig deep."
