Itay Shechter's dream of moving to the Premier League this month has been left in tatters. The Israeli striker was taken off with a dislocated shoulder just two minutes into Hapoel Tel Aviv's Ligat Ha'Al match against Hapoel Akko.
Shechter had only just returned to fitness after dislocating the same shoulder last month and will now require surgery which will keep him out for at least three months.
Last week, Italian Serie A side Chievo had an offer for Shechter turned down by Hapoel. The Israeli has also been linked with Celtic, Liverpool, Everton, Newcastle and Aston Villa.
Betar Jerusalem manager Uri Malmillian resigned following the 2-0 defeat against Maccabi Petach Tikvah. He has been replaced by Ronny Levi, the former Maccabi Haifa boss.
