I’m back between the sticks, and I’ve never felt more at home

It was out of the frying pan and into the fire on Sunday as I played for my third new team in the space of three weeks. Since joining North London Raiders, I have represented their Masters and B teams. Last weekend, I debuted for the A team, who play in the JC MSFL Division One. They had made a poor start to the season with no wins in five.

Manager Adam Fegan has had his work cut out with a young squad hampered by inconsistency as a large chunk of them are out of London at university.

I helped them claim a surprise 5-1 victory and received a warm welcome from the team, with Adam welcoming "the most famous goalkeeper in Jewish football".

Brady's Josh Rosenfield did his Jimmy Bullard impression as the teams prepared for a throw on, though he certainly got more than he bargained for when he tried to make his presence felt alongside Matt Sheldon and me.

Another team that has made a bad start is Premier Division new boys Montana Boca United. They tried to turn on the mind games when they entertained the leaders North West Neasden A - using the smallest pitch with the longest grass at South Oxhey.

When you are battling at the foot of the table, it's worth trying anything in a bid to get your opponents to lose their focus.

Unlike Wimbledon in the 1980s, I'm pleased to say that they did not go as far as removing the lightbulbs or turning off the radiators in the Neasden changing room. But the thought probably entered their minds.
When you are struggling and doubts have been raised over your position, what is the last game you want? Redbridge away. But that is what lies in store for Lions A and manager Andy Myers this weekend.

The former Wingate captain is starting to feel the heat as his squad has failed to build on the foundations set by Ben Winston and Eilon Kennet over the past few seasons.

I have no doubt that RJC will be right up for this one. They beat the Lions at home a couple of years ago, under Winston and Kennet, and I can see Myers and co happy to come away with a draw.

Camden Park and Faithfold B will try again after their original Peter Morrison Trophy preliminary round tie was postponed as they had no referee.

And there are a couple of matches that see opponents from last week meeting again. Raiders A host Brady, while in Division Three, title hopefuls FC Team A and L'Equipe also do battle a second time.

Two mouth-watering games are in store when Southgate Harmen A entertain North London Raiders B in Division Two while Hendon Hawks take on Woodford Wanderers in the fourth.

Former Wingate & Finchley player Danny Berg is on his third club this season after joining Ilford.

Bergy started the season at the Abrahams Stadium before moving to Potters Bar. He impressed while playing against Ilford and was snapped up.

He said: "I've played the last few games and it's going well."
