Idina Menzel and Chief Rabbi spotted enjoying tennis at first day of Wimbledon

The Chief Rabbi has previously spoken of his interest in sport, telling an audience at Maccabi UK, his wife Valerie had been an outstanding athlete in her native Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe).

“But that’s nothing compared to her mother and her sister, who both got medals at the Maccabiah.”

Other famous faces in their section included racing driver Sir Jackie Stewart, Prince Michael of Kent and Jewish-American actress Idina Menzel.

Chief Rabbi Mirvis was in attendance to watch the number two-seeded Djokovic take on Argentina's Pedro Cachin, an unseeded 29-year-old who is ranked 68th in the world and first played at the tournament in 2015

Menzel, fresh from her headline set at London's Pride festival this weekend, enjoyed the tennis alongside her Wicked co-star, actor Simon Adkins.

Menzel is a self-confessed tennis fan, recently telling Billboard magazine that she once dreamed of being a professional tennis player before finding acting.
