Two goals from Dovid Korman plus one apiece from the in-form Yishai Last and Ben Kon helped the Hammers go three points clear at the top of the table as they won a seven-goal thriller at Rowley Lane.
Lions' marksmen were Ben Joseph (2) and Pete Lazard.
Hendon manager David Garbacz said: "The scoreline was a lot closer than the game suggested. We were dominant throughout and really should have won by more.
"Hats off to Lions who kept battling but we had a game-plan today and the boys played it out perfectly. We pressed them hard in their half and were able to control the crucial midfield area.
"They had three shots on goal and scored three goals but that is football and something we need to guard against later in the season and really put games to bed when we have the chance.
"A very satisfying win and we are definately going all out for league glory this year."
