Tony Gold says he needs some time away from the game before considering his next move after stepping down as manager of Takeley FC, writes Danny Caro.

The former London Lions boss took charge of the Essex Senior League outfit in January and guided them to one cup final, one cup semi-final and seventh in the league.

"I left for personal reasons," said Gold. "Takeley are a great club that will go places, but there was simply too much travelling involved.

"I was determined to see the season out and it all ended very amicably. I wish them the best of luck and was glad to be able to help the club find a new manager for next season."

Assistant-manager Steve Grenfell and coach Darren Yarlett have also left the club.

Having steered Lions to the SSML Division One title last season, Gold says he has had "quite a few offers" for next season, but he plans to spend the next few weeks away from the game.
