Flixton want Hendon next, says Delmonte

Flixton missed a host of chances before top-scorer Sidle fired them in front from 18 yards. Defender Michael Sacks sealed the tie with a powerful header from a corner.

Delmonte said: "We played some really good football and missed several chances but once the first goal went in, the result was never in doubt.

"We’re still firing on four fronts and it was a case of getting the job done against FC Team.

Flixton require two points from their final three games to clinch the Manchester Accountants League Premier
Division title. They have already sealed a place in the final of the Handicup Cup competition, where they will meet Manchester Maccabi, and play in the quarter-finals of the King’s Cup this weekend.

With holders Hendon United and Harmen also in the hat for next week’s Peter Morrison Trophy semi-final draw,
Delmonte added: "We want to play Hendon in the semi-finals, as I feel we owe them one. It’s a case of unfinished business from last season."

FC Team boss Mitch Young admitted the best side won on Sunday. "Flixton are a strong team with an exceptional defence," he said.

"We gave everything on the day and frustrated Flixton until the final quarter of the game.

"I am proud of the efforts and on another day with a bigger squad we probably would have caused more of a threat.

"Now our focus turns solely to the BGT Trophy where we will be doing all we can to get to Wingate."

The Peter Morrison semi-final line-up will be completed on Sunday when MJSL champions Leeds Maccabi host Maccabi London Lions Spartans.
