Two goals from Jonti Arembad helped Hasmonean High beat Menorah Grammar 5-1 in Mill Hill.
In a match that was billed as a classic, the boys from Year 7 did not disappoint. Menorah came to play a proper game but in the end there was only one result with Hasmonean winning 5-1 at Barnet’s Copthall Sports Stadium.
Two goals from Jonti Arembad set Hasmonean on their way, Jamie Davila made it 3-0 at half time. Even with Hasmonean playing with the wind, Menorah could only muster one attack that Tomer Wieder dealt with effectively.
In the second half, with Hasmonean battling against the elements, they were expecting an onslaught of goals that never happened. Gidon Katten, who had a very quite game, could not stop Menorah pulling one back, but Hasmonean showed their superiority, scoring twice more. Captain Jeremy Ullmann made the game safe at 4-1 and five minutes from time Davila put the icing on the cake with a fifth.
The goal of the game went to Arembad’s stunning strike after five minutes. He unleashed a shot from the edge of the area that nestled in the top right-hand corner.
