FC Team chairman Mitch Young hailed a great weekend for the club after their respective three teams enjoyed memorable victories.

The club’s Saturday team, debuting in the Middlesex County League Division One, boosted their hopes of avoiding relegation with a last-gasp 2-1 win over high-flying London United. Rich Sternberg claimed his second of the campaign, together with an excellent defensive display had Young beaming. “Our defence is now showing collectively that they are a great unit in County level football.

“We showed great team spirit, unity and focus for 90 minutes and that truly is the FC Team way. With four games to go we now have the confidence to pick up points to keep us in the division.”

Last Sunday, FC Team B clinched the JC MSFL Division Three title with a 2-0 victory over Hendon United B. Alex Brodkin and Young, who netted his 29th goal in 17 matches, started the celebrations.

FC Team A were confirmed runners-up after thumping South Manx B 8-0. Richard Salmon (3), Adam Goldsmith (3) and Jonny Breger (2) took them up with a game to spare.

Young said: “Both Sunday teams secured our sixth promotions in three seasons along with our second title. I am very proud and long may this success continue.”
