They swept aside El Salvador's Marcelo Arevalo and Mexico's Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela 6-1 6-2 in just 55 minutes in the final in Newport, USA.

Erlich, 41, has previously won the Newport title with his former and now retired Israeli partner Andy Ram but he was surprised to be reminded that it was 18 years ago.

"I'm proud that I'm still going and we played really well this week," remarked Erlich. "I have great chemistry with Artem. We create energy and help each other play well."

The duo will share a prize of $30,000 and Erlich will rise to 70 in the ATP doubles rankings
