Midfielder Dean Furman described his Rangers first team debut as an “unbelievable experience” following the 3-1 victory over Dundee United.
The 19-year-old from Edgware has turned heads in Glasgow this season and on Saturday, he came off the bench to replace Kevin Thomson 52 minutes into the Ibrox encounter.
Having captained the club’s reserve team for most of the season, Furman was delighted to finally get his big chance. “It was a great experience and I loved every minute of it. I’ve been buzzing since as playing in front of more than 50,000 fans at Ibrox is something that will live with me forever.”
Furman hopes to be involved in four
games in eight days
The South African-born midfielder was ineligible for Wednesday night’s Uefa Cup final against Zenit St Petersburg but hopes to be involved in the team’s remaining fixtures. These include the Scottish Cup final against Queen of the South on May 24 as the team continue their search for silverware with four matches in eight days.
“Now I must keep my head down and keep working hard and when the chance comes again I have to take it,” he said. “I hope Saturday was just the start. It will be an almighty slog to win our remaining games but we have shown an unbelievable resilience this season.”
