Two goals from TJ Keterman inspired Lions to victory in an all-Premier Division clash, where Brixton keeper Jake Doffman kept his team in the tie.
In difficult playing conditions, Lions completely controlled the first 25 minutes of the first half, wasting chance after chance, and as always happens in difficult conditions Brixton found themselves 1-0 up having struggled for most of the match.
A decision was quickly taken to make two substitutions, bringing on Max Kyte and Charlie Rubin and this paid dividends with both players being involved with the TJ Ketterman Lions equaliser. The tide had turned and they were awarded a penalty, which was saved by the outstanding Jake Doffman.
Lions continued to apply the pressure and Jordan Marks made it 2-1.
Over and over again the Brixton keeper Doffman made saves. Kyte added another goal at the end of a superb five-pass move to make it 3-1 for the Lions at half time.
Lions took their foot off the gas in the first 15 minutes of the second half, but eventually got going again and Kyte scored his second and the Lions fourth. Lions looked like it was going to be a question of how many but still Doffman made save after save, and another lapse of Lions concentration gave Brixton a second, quickly followed by a third. It was now 4-3 and from a comfortable position Lions were hanging on.
Eventually Keterman scored his second and Lions ffith, not before two incredible saves from Brixton's superb keeper.
Lions continued to squander chance after chance but eventually the final whistle was blown.
Lions interim manager Andy Landesberg told JC Sport: "We played some of our best football today, but there has to be an end product to finish. We didn't take our chances today and the Brixton goalkeeper was without question Man of the match today.
"The conditions were difficult and perhaps Rowley Lane might have been more suitable to the way we have started to play.
"The most important thing is that we are in the hat for the next round. The players are actually starting to gel, and a core through the team is starting to develop. Aviel Schwarz and Charlie Rubin both in the centre of midfield were excellent, and Max Kyte and Jordan Marks made an impact on the game. With again five of under-18's from last season having an impact on the game, the future is looking very bright for this team.
"We now have to get focused on our league position and start the climb in the right direction up the league."
