Confidence is high in the SCRABBLE FC camp as the club returns to the MGBSFL following a 10-year absence.
Formed in 1980, they have a rich football history and the squad will be the third generation of players that has represented the club which won back-to-back Premier Division titles in the late 1990’s.
Club chairman Adrian Lewis and Zak McLeod have worked tirelessly over the summer to put the right infrastructure in place. Manager Ray Abrahams is “cautiously optimistic” about their prospects as they seek to gain promotion at the first attempt.
Scrabble will be looking to open their account on the opening weekend against Athletic Bilbaum.
Another team with title ambitions is MACCABI LONDON LIONS B who have invested heavily in a new and innovative management team. “We’ve made signings that will give the squad a very different look to last season. A winning one,” said Sam Marchant.
Jonathan Cohen insists a successful summer recruitment drive will ensure TEMPLE FORTUNE'S 40th year in the league is a positive one.
“We’ve brought in a number of players in a variety of positions so competition for places will fierce,” he said.
“Rob Benson is the one to watch but I really like the look of two or three of our new players – they have shown a great attitude and commitment.”
Nick Stern is looking to deliver L'EQUIPE'S first piece of silverware. Dan Fisher and Grant Bates have joined the fray, Stern is excited by the prospect of a first full season from Bates which he believes “should bring fear to all our opponents”.
Jeff Gotch has overhauled CATFORD & BROMLEY MACCABI'S squad with 17 players coming in. “We are aiming for a top two finish to secure promotion and are looking to put the club back where they should be,” he said.
The experience of Rob Shooman will be key as Faithfold C attempt to restore former glories. “Our new signings will strengthen our team from defence through midfield and also in attack.”
Adam Glekin is confident HENDON UNITED SPORTS B can raise their game. “My hopes are obviously for promotion, but this will be tough.”
Real Hendon are the division’s other new team. Gilad Kestenbaum will bring a winning mentality to a club managed by Chaim Gothold.
Boca Jewniors are aiming for a top four finish following an overhaul by boss Gabriel John. He said: “The squad is made up of real team players. We have some flair but I think our team ethic will be our strong point.”
Mike Myers predicts the Cooper brothers will “take the division by storm” as FC Team C challenge for honours, while Zack Gothelf remains at the helm for NL Raiders C for whom player retention has been the priority.
