Teenager Josh Darcy was South Manchester hero as Reich Insurance Rangers suffered fresh cup final heartbreak.
Just weeks after crashing in the Shonn Trophy, Reich fell by the wayside at the last hurdle again in their bid to win the Harold Feldman Trophy.
Darcy, 17, was South's goal hero after collecting Micky Cohen's fine pass and defying his tender years to slot home the 12th minute winner.
Reich had chances to haul themselves level but were foiled by goalkeeper Nathan Orr. They also came up against a stubborn South rearguard led by the superb Ian Tussie at Altrincham's Moss Lane.
South Manchester Marc Magid said: "I couldn't be prouder of the boys who have worked hard all season like this. They deserve this for the effort they have put in. Nobody has shirked a challenge throughout.
"We narrowly beat Reich at the same stage last year. But they are always tight and evenly contested games. They are a good set of lads, gracious in defeat and we always slog it out."
Reich director of football Mike Gaswirth cut a frustrated figure but admitted his team-mates could have no complaints after losing another showpiece final.
He said: "We've just not been able to get over the line in finals. It's not a mental block. You deserve everythng you get and obviously we haven't been good enough when it matters most."
Reich did have the consolation of winning the Mike Samberg 7-A-Side Trophy. Gaswirth's winner condemned Maccabi Manchester Blue to a 3-2 defeat in the final.
