The heroics of players involved in Peter Morrison Trophy ties and the MGBSFL are recognised in my Select XI from Matchday 5 of the season.
1. SOL SCHLAGMAN (HMH U18) - the young stopper showed no sign of nerves. If anything he rose to the occasion on the big stage at Rowley Lane to help HMH claim the shock of the round against Brady
2. ZAC ROSE (Maccabi London Lions Spartans) - the 17-year-old again showed what a great prospect he was, playing out of position against Raiders B
3. JONNY GAHAN (Faithfold B) - made some tigerish and brilliantly-timed tackles in the win that helped preserved the team's 100 per cent record
4. ANDREW MYERS (ML Lions Seniors) - rock solid in the win over Oakwood B, and almost as many JC mentions as Adam Brand!
5. ADAM LEVENE (Blizzard Storm) - "in a tricky cup tie he was focused throughout and his experience helped massively"
6. JAMES LAW (Real Sosobad) - "caused the Rovers full-back problems from the start and couldn't keep up with him throughout. He capped is performance with an assist and a well-taken goal"
7. BEN JOSEPH (NL Raiders A) - "at the heart of everything good about our performance" against Oakwood
8. GEORGE GOLDBERG (HMH U18) - twinkle-toed wing wizard gave the Brady defence a torrid time. He was denied by the woodwork in normal time and then played a key role in HMH's equaliser.
9. AVIDAN LAST (Hendon A) - "the Ryan Giggs of the Maccabi League - just goes on and on and great predatory hat trick today - looked very sharp throughout"
10. JAMES GERSHFIELD (Harmen) - "a 15-minute hat-trick saw Gersh continue his early good form. Every team needs a finisher like him with an almost guarantee of goals if he’s in the side"
11. ADAM STOLERMAN (FC Team C) - "four goals; not much more left to say"
