A deadly double from Ollie Craig fired a new-look Lions team into the quarter-finals of the League Cup after an impressive win at Division One high-flyers Redbridge B.

After a management reshuffle earlier on in the week and a few players leaving the club, Lions A interim managers Ryan Springer and Will Beresford were left with the task of putting a strong team together to take to Essex for a tricky cup tie against a talented, young Redbridge side.

A lack of goalkeeper options saw coach Springer make his debut between the sticks. On a boggy surface, it was the Essex side who started off stronger, piling on the pressure. But the Lions back four remained resolute, clearing away numerous long balls. Lions brought in a strong, new look defensive midfield duo of Ben Lambert and Jamie Jackson, who protected the back 4 making countless tackles and interceptions.
